Message to Our Valued GuestsA Mid Summer UpdateA tropical storm has blown through and the sun is shining once again. Southampton is in phase 4 of the governor's safety policies. Stony Brook Southampton Hospital has zero covid patients at the moment. Restaurants are open and serving outside in gardens, on sidewalks, and other creative safe spaces. Shops are open and merchandise is unique, distancing is practiced within the stores, and seasonal sales have begun. The cultural institutions have a locally sourced farmers market on the lawn at Agawam Park, Drive in movies at Coopers Beach, sculptures and outside programs at the Southampton Cultural Center, and inspired excursions through the Southampton History Museum historic buildings by appointment.Southampton Inn is doing well. Along with the enhanced cleaning protocols, we have Steri-lite UV lights with ozone that are used after check outs (to protect housekeepers) and prior to check in (to protect our guests). We have many extended stays, quite a few families with children, a lot of pets in our 16 pet friendly rooms, and everyone seems to be enjoying the sprawling lawns, the pool and tennis, bicycles and especially the polka dotted shuttle to Coopers Beach (albeit longer wait time to maintain social distancing). We still have some availability for August and for Labor Day weekend. Rates begin at $400* per night for a weekday stay and $600* per night for weekends, double occupancy. Children under 12 in parents room stay free. And for September and the autumn? The pool is open and heated through Columbus Day (of course, weather dependent).Claude's Restaurant will be serving its award winning breakfast daily as well as the all-day dining in picnic baskets (and small plates and local favorites) through October 11th.For those of you whose seasonal rentals end, please inquire about taking a room for the month to have a safe rural haven during the crisp and cooler days post Labor Day.For those of you who are working remotely and are able to do so from our idyllic village.... The inn has a robust wifi system that allows you to set up your laptop on the lawns, pool patio, courtyard, or (or course) in your guest room. We have several meeting rooms, several small offices in the adjacent 71 Hill Street commercial complex, as well as connecting guest rooms that can be fitted out for extended stays with a living/work area as well as bedroom and two bathrooms. For families whose school year is postponed, or for local families seeking spaces for tutoring or "pod" classes, please contact us for information about the offices at 71 Hill, the flexible meeting rooms in the inn, or even a guest room converted to classroom until in-school is safe to begin again. What to do in the post "season"? The temperatures should be cooler, the nights crisp, the crowds thinner. Beaches are still beautiful (although there are no lifeguards after Labor Day). There are hiking and walking trails, gardens to visit. Wineries are preparing for harvest season. There are bicycle excursions throughout the estate areas. The restaurant menus change to some autumnal flavors. Shops are mostly filled with sale merchandise (or new inventories for the cooler seasons). There is golf on public courses, (or at private clubs if you are, or know, a member). There is sailing and boating, fishing and surfing. While this will not be a year of festivals or concerts or large galas, there is so much to do... or nothing at all (reading one of your Bedside Reading selections on an Adirondack chair on the south lawn). We have over 100 television channels. There is a fireplace in the library with an old Steinway piano and a few comfortable (and distanced) seating areas. We have lots of old fashioned board games (like scrabble and cards and monopoly and sorry!) We offer lots of outdoor games too like croquet and horseshoes, badminton and even.... a family relay race.As for events.... we are hosting small "backyard weddings" and mini corporate outings as one of the few Southampton venues with over an acre of beautiful manicured lawn to set up "craft tents" for well spaced and weather protected outside dining. We have had a few fundraisers for 50 or fewer guests with delicious food and signature drinks. And the Southampton Inn is perfect for family get-togethers (take an entire building with 8 or 10 rooms for your private gathering). We hope to see you soon. Please be safe and healthy.*Plus taxes and fees. Specials on specific dates only.Rates are approximated, are subject to change and availability.Children under 12 are free. Restrictions may apply. 2020 rates.
